Make sure you can be seen.

I was driving a four lane road with no shoulders to speak of and it was real dark. I saw this tiny little white reflected light coming toward me in my lane. What it turned out to be was a rider of a bike with dark clothing. No reflective clothing, no lights on his bike. The only thing that saved him was the tiny reflector that came with his bike.

Now as far as I am concerned this is a stupid thing to do. You are asking to be hit.

I thought I would tell you what happened hoping it will make you think about safety and being seen.
